MUSICIAN POSITION DESCRIPTION

Redemption Lutheran Church seeks a part-time musician to play hymn and service music for Sunday morning worship services and other services organized by the congregation.

Redemption Lutheran Church is a two-year-old mission congregation formed in 2010. We are affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (www.lcmc.org). We are a small church family, with weekly worship attendance of 25-30. Services are held in the Clarion Hotel, 530 Richards Drive, in Manhattan, Kansas. Sunday classes for youth and adults meet at 9:30 a.m., followed by our worship service at 10:30 a.m. Our worship style is traditional. Our worship setting is informal but liturgical. Holy Communion is offered at all worship services.

Because our current worship space is a hotel meeting room, an electronic keyboard is used for musical accompaniment.

MUSICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide service music accompaniment, including the Kyrie, hymn of praise, offertory, and pre- and post-communion hymns or canticles. We currently use service settings from the Lutheran Book of Worship.
• Provide accompaniment for three or more hymns at each service, including the gathering or entrance hymn, the hymn of the day following the sermon, and a sending hymn at the conclusion of the service. Services may include special music on occasion.
• Provide accompaniment at special services organized by the congregation.
• Work with the congregation council and pastor to plan music for worship services.

Salary: $50 per service
